From our Leadership

A few words from those who built this place.

Two letters — from our founder and our principal — about why this college exists and what we hope our students take with them when they leave.

Chairman's Message

"A village can hold up a child, if we give it the right teachers."

Dear Students, Parents and Visitors,

I grew up in Settihalli. The school I attended had three classrooms and one teacher who could read English. He stayed for nine years; he taught us not just our subjects, but how to sit, how to listen, and how to ask. He is the reason I am writing this letter today.

Sri Gokula Krishna College of Education was founded because I believed — and still believe — that one good teacher, trained well and placed in the right village, can do what no policy can. We do not chase numbers. We choose our students carefully, we train them with care, and we send them out only when we are convinced they will not embarrass the children in front of them.

If you are a young man or woman thinking of becoming a teacher: come and meet us. Walk through our library, sit in our classrooms, talk to our students. Then decide.

With warm regards,

Thiru. K. Gokulakrishnan

Principal's Message

"Pedagogy without warmth is technique. Warmth without rigour is kindness. We teach both."

To every student who is considering this college,

You are choosing a profession that asks more of you than most. A teacher is watched — by twelve-year-olds who notice everything, by parents who entrust you with their hopes, and by yourself, in the quiet of the next morning, when you wonder if today's lesson worked.

At Sri Gokula Krishna, we have built our B.Ed programme to honour the difficulty of what you have chosen. Our foundations are strong: psychology, philosophy, sociology, and a deep grounding in your teaching subject. Our practice is real: from your fourth month with us, you will be in classrooms, planning lessons, taking demo classes, and — most importantly — being watched and corrected by mentors who have themselves taught for decades.

I have been principal here for nine years. In that time, I have seen shy first-years grow into teachers who hold a class of forty children with a single look. It is the most quietly thrilling thing I know.

Come and study with us. We will work hard. You will leave ready.

In service,

Dr. R. Saraswathi

Principal, SGKCE
