Eligibility

Who can apply.

Anyone with an undergraduate degree (or equivalent) from a recognised university with at least 50% marks — 45% for SC/ST/OBC candidates as per Government of Tamil Nadu norms.

  • A graduate of any discipline (B.A., B.Sc., B.Com., B.C.A. or equivalent).
  • Minimum 50% aggregate (45% for reserved categories) at the bachelor's level.
  • Postgraduates in Science / Social Science with 55% are eligible for direct entry to subject specialisations.
  • Engineering & Technology graduates with 55% in their specialisation (with at least one school subject) are eligible.
  • No upper age limit. Working teachers are encouraged to apply.

All admissions are channeled through TNTEU centralised counselling. Below is what to expect when you apply through SGKCE.

Fill the SGKCE prospective student form below; we'll share TNTEU registration details.

Document Check

Submit certificates, mark sheets, community certificate & transfer certificate.

Counselling

Attend the TNTEU centralised counselling at the allotted slot.

Campus Visit

Optional but encouraged — meet faculty, see hostels, ask questions.

Enrol

Pay first-semester fee and receive your enrolment kit.

All amounts are in Indian Rupees, per academic year. Government scholarships (BC, MBC, SC, ST, women, first-generation graduate) are processed by our scholarship cell at no charge.

Government scholarships, when sanctioned, are paid directly to the student account. SGKCE does not charge any application fee.

Questions we hear often.

Is there an entrance exam?

Admissions are through Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University's centralised counselling, which uses your UG marks as the basis of merit ranking. SGKCE also conducts an in-house aptitude check on the day of joining, used purely for placing you into the right subject specialisation — it is not used to reject students.

Can working teachers apply?

Yes. We run a working-teacher track with Saturday-Sunday lectures plus four block weeks per semester. Talk to our admissions cell — we'll help you plan the leave with your school.

What scholarships are available?

Government of Tamil Nadu BC/MBC/SC/ST scholarships, the women's higher education scholarship, the first-graduate scholarship and the Adi Dravidar scholarship. Our scholarship officer files paperwork on your behalf.

Where will I do my internship?

We have memoranda of understanding with 18 partner schools — government, aided and matriculation — across Pennagaram, Dharmapuri town, Palacode and Harur. You will be placed within 25 km of campus.

Is hostel accommodation guaranteed?

Yes — we have 120 women's hostel beds and 80 men's hostel beds. Allocation is on first-come basis after admission; women applicants from outside Dharmapuri district get priority.

Can I transfer from another B.Ed college?

Lateral entry is permitted at the start of Year 2, subject to TNTEU approval and your previous college's transfer certificate. Please write to admissions@sgkce.edu.in.
